Get to know your music ministry program. Whether you are looking
to cantor or to play along, there are a myriad of opportunities:

- Musicians
- Vocalists
in all ranges
Our groups perform at their individual Masses (Choir, 9:30am;
Folk group, 4:45; mixed group, 11:30) but also come together for
holidays and special occasions.
There are opportunities for instrumental and vocal solos, or come
to harmonize and share your gift of song. We also work with the
children's choir, hand bell choir, and liturgical dancers for holidays
and special occasions.

Children's Choir
The Children's Choir performs
the second Sunday of the month during the 9:30am Mass and at family
Masses and other special masses throughout the year. Rehearsals
take place for two Thursday evenings before the performance.
Songtus Music
Ministry
What is "Songtus"?
Songtus is the the name of St. Joseph's music ensemble/band that
provides music at the Sunday 6PM Masses each week. It is a band
for all ages! Songtus plays music that is geared to our youth,
but we have found adults of all generations enjoy the upbeat praise
and worship repetoire played at our Masses. Songtus has been recognized
in the Diocese of Metuchen as one of the premiere liturgical music
groups and was selected to provide the music at the 2008 Six Flags
Great Adventure Diocesan Youth Rally as well as the 2009 Diocesan
Youth Day event.
Songtus is directed by Andrea Bierwirth, a parishioner since 2003
with extensive experience in liturgical music since 1993 in Chicago,
Australia and now Hillsborough! The band was formed in 2004 when
the parish embraced the Life Teen youth program. Since that time,
the youth program has transitioned and the 6PM Band has been transformed
into a band consisting of instrumentalists and vocalists of all
ages ranging from 8th grade to adult. We are very happy to welcome
new musicians and are always looking for vocalists as well as guitarists,
violinist, percussionists, flautists....to join our ensemble! We
play music that can be heard on STAR 99.1 and is found in contemporary
Catholic praise and worship music collections featuring music from
contemporary Catholic/Christian composers such as Chris Tomlin,
Matt Maher, Tim Redman and many others. Our music brings smiles
to the faces of our assembly as they clap and sing in praise together
during the liturgy! If you are a musician who would like to share

Mass Time: 6PM every Sunday!
Rehearsals: Sunday afternoons 4PM - 6PM
Other: Songtus is regularly requested to play at special Masses
such as Christmas Eve 6PM, Easter Vigil service and Confirmation.
Extra rehearsals are added for these events.
