Cornerstone

Calling all men of St. Joe’s Parish. Join CORNERSTONE

Lent is the perfect time to start inspired habits you want to continue after Easter. Let Cornerstone be one of those inspired habits. Start it this Lent and continue for a good long time.

Cornerstone is a proven winner for men in many area parishes. The agenda for each meeting is simple, consistent and comfortable. After a brief opening prayer, the meetings start with everyone being invited to provide a very brief comment about a scripture passage or some other religious writing. We will frequently use the questions about scripture that appear in the “This Week” summary of Sunday’s homily. The topic will be emailed to you a week in advance so you have time to mull it over (even though you only get a minute or two to speak). After that first round, the men will be invited to recount a particular “spiritual moment” in their own histories – e.g. one week it might be about a favorite moment in church or a treasured moment in prayer, an experience of answered prayer, an awareness of God’s action. Some meetings will include a witness talk. Men who have joined Cornerstone groups at other parishes remark that it is a greatly blessed experience that revitalizes and deepens their spiritual lives in a relaxed environment.
